Completion of a historic landmark on the Dubai / Abu Dhabi road. The first Al Habtoor Hospitality project in Dubai, the Metropolitan hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. One of the first hotels built in UAE.

1999

The Metropolitan Turns 20!

For twenty years the Metropolitan Hotel has been a landmark and a marque of excellence in a constantly evolving Dubai hotel industry. Movie stars such as Bruce Willis, Omar Sharif, Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze and Jean Claude Van Damme have been guests of the Metropolitan chain as has supermodel Naomi Campbell.

2002

The Icon gets a New Look.

In its illustrious history, the limousines gliding into the Metropolitan hotel’s car park have opened their doors to stars as instantly recognisable as the hotel which stands sentinel on the Sheikh Zayed Road. Whether for business or pleasure, the centrally located Metropolitan Hotel Dubai provides luxurious accommodation with extensive facilities including conferences and banqueting services health club and 13 varied food and beverage outlets to choose from.

2012

End of an Era.

“It is true that we are demolishing one of Dubai’s historic landmarks, but it will be replaced by another bigger landmark for the future.” Al Habtoor believed that it is possible to demolish a building but the great memories and sentiments related to the place can’t be deleted. “It sticks inside you forever,” he said. The Metropolitan, a 34-year-old hotel, is to be demolished to make way for a extravagant hospitality complex and a Las Vegas-style theatre.

2013

A City Within a City.

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor unveils his most ambitious project to date – Al Habtoor City. The world’s biggest residential and hospitality single phased development under construction. Al Habtoor said Al Habtoor City will be a new landmark for Dubai, “Today I stand here to make this announcement due to the vision, leadership and support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
